Studio Work: April-May 2007

In this first edition of Studio Work would like to portray the difference between utilitarianism and thought provocation art in action. However upon proof reading this collection of muddled words and images I realized that I might just be proving how much of a disorganized slob I am. I use the words "proof reading loosely by the way. At any rate I hope you enjoy this segment and come back from time to time to see the progression I intend to display as the over all theme. If you have any questions I'm at claycrazy@gmail.com .

This piece is an urn depicting: (Left) a gas pump nozzle with the depiction of $1.00 per gallon. (Right) the same urn depicting the iconic black clad hooded prisoner of the Iraq war. the coloration being that in order to lower gas prices, human suffering must occur. But you knew that I and I only had to explain it for the fifth graders out there doing research on contemporary art.

This is JO-JO. He is missing an arm. The title of the piece is "The defeat of JO-JO". This will be a continuing series involving the experiences of JO-JO and other semi-animate biomechanical life forms in arena combat or similar situations like grocery shopping or bill paying. JO-JO also doubles as a vase or decanter. For now I'll leave it with: "How did JO-JO loose his arm?"

This is where I sit. its usually messy and dirty, has half smoked cigarettes laying about, half drunk coffees and a bunch of small proprietary devices of my own design. The proprietary devices were removed for the taking of this picture so as not to reveal any of my secrets to you the viewing public.
This is the first Star Destroyer I made. The original concept was to construct  the bridge as a mushroom. I have one in development. I wanted a large Star Destroyer for my son and decided to make him this one since Hasbro will not make any such toy, even after repeated attempts of alerting the Hasbro toy company of the large consumer need of such toys.
Glazing session in full swing.
